2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Sedan vs 2018 BMW 7 Series

Serving San Antonio, New Braunfels, and Boerne, TX

If ever there were a matchup between the two heavyweight world champions of the automotive world, the contenders would be the 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Sedan and the BMW 7 Series Sedan. These flagship vehicles express the very best ideas of their manufacturers and provide a no-compromise driving experience for those privileged to own one. Both offer supreme quality, unparalleled luxury, unassailable prestige and stirring performance. Clearly, test-drives of each will be needed before you crown one the champion of your garage. When you drive the S-Class, check out two unique features: semi-autonomous driving and energizing comfort control.

Powertrain

The 2018 S-Class Sedan offers three twin-turbo gasoline engines: A 3.0-liter (362 horsepower/369 lb-ft of torque), a 4.0-liter V8 (463/516) and the top-tier 6.0-liter V12 (621/738). In each tier, the Mercedes-Benz engines overpower their 2018 7 Series rivals, which include the following single-turbocharger gasoline engines: A 3.0-liter I6 (320/332), a 4.4-liter V8 (445/479), and in the top tier, either a 600-hp/590 lb-ft version of the V8 or a 6.6-liter V12(601/590). Both makes are available with rear- or all-wheel drive. The S-Class utilizes a 9-speed automatic transmission vs the 8-speed found on the 7 Series.

Semi-Autonomous Driving

Both the 2018 S-Class and 2018 7 Series offer a bevy of active safety features, but only the Mercedes-Benz has pushed the technology forward to achieve semi-autonomous driving – the car can steer for you. This new generation of Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Drive adds sophisticated radar, camera and electronic capabilities to Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC® and Active Steering Assist to automatically adjust speed at road junctions and around bends. The Active Lane Change Assist has been upgraded to work in real-time with COMAND®; Navigation. Other parts of the S-Class Driver Assistance Package include Active Emergency Stop Assist, Active Speed Limit Assist and Active Parking Assist.

Energizing Comfort Control

Another unique feature of the S-Class, Energizing Comfort Control provides six different 10-minute programs to rejuvenate tired or stressed drivers. The programs (Freshness, Warmth, Vitality, Joy, Comfort and Training) create the perfect combination of music, color graphics, ambient lighting, climate control, seat massage and fragrance to put you into the perfect frame of mine. The Training program includes three modes – muscle activation, muscle relaxation, and balance –for behind-the-wheel exercising. Let Energizing Comfort Control restore your soul as Intelligent Driving whisks you to your destination. Only in the 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class (BMW does not offer this feature).
