Learn How to Use DISTRONIC PLUS® in Alamo Heights

If you’re already driving a vehicle equipped with DISTRONIC PLUS®, learning how to operate it is fairly simple:

  • The controls for DISTRONIC PLUS® are located on a lever attached to your steering column—much like any other cruise control system you may have used in the past.
  • Move the lever up or down to set a cruising speed. You can alter your speed by pushing the lever up to gain speed or pushing it down to decrease speed. One push of the lever up or down will increase or decrease your speed by one mile per hour, respectively.
  • A hard push up or down on the lever will increase or decrease speed by five miles per hour.
  • To end cruise control, just tap the brakes or push the lever away from you.
  • To start cruise control up again, you can pull the lever toward you to resume cruising at the last speed you had set.
  • There is also a knob situated at the end of the lever that can control your cruising distance behind the vehicle in front of you. Your exact distance is displayed on the central screen.
  • If traffic comes to a sudden halt, Mercedes-Benz DISTRONIC PLUS® can bring your vehicle to a stop. If you have to stop for more than three seconds, you can resume cruising when traffic starts flowing again by tapping the gas or pulling the lever toward you.

Note: You should only use DISTRONIC PLUS® on highways and freeways. Shavano Park drivers must remain fully attentive to their surroundings when using Mercedes-Benz DISTRONIC PLUS®.

What is DISTRONIC PLUS® with Steering Assist?

Some Mercedes-Benz vehicles have DISTRONIC PLUS® with Steering Assist, otherwise known as simply DISTRONIC Steering Assist. This feature helps you stay within the confines of your lane by monitoring the lane markings and making steering adjustments to prevent drifting. It also monitors other vehicles and traffic conditions to avoid overtaking vehicles from the right. Finally, DISTRONIC PLUS® Steering Assist reminds the driver to keep their hands on the vehicle at all times for safety, even when cruising.
