2023 EQS 450 vs. 580 4MATIC®: What’s the Difference?

The EQS from Mercedes-Benz: All Electric is available with several different powertrains—and power output is the main difference between the EQS 450+ and the EQS 580 4MATIC®®. Your choice of trim level will be the primary determinant of what features you receive, but your choice of model will definitely have an impact on key areas of your in-car experience. Let’s take a closer look at the lineup so you can see why it might be worth it to upgrade!

Performance: EQS 450+ or 580 4MATIC®®? 

The EQS lineup includes the EQS 450+ Sedan, the EQS 450 4MATIC®® Sedan, and the EQS 580 4MATIC®® Sedan. If you really want to understand the difference between the EQS 450 and 580 models, you’ll need to understand what all three of these options are offering:

• EQS 450+ Sedan: 329 hp, 417 lb-ft of torque, Rear-Wheel Drive
• EQS 450 4MATIC®® Sedan: 335 hp, 590 lb-ft of torque, 4MATIC®® All-Wheel Drive
• EQS 580 4MATIC®® Sedan: 516 hp, 631 lb-ft of torque, 4MATIC®® All-Wheel Drive

The EQS 450+ Sedan has a slightly higher range than either the EQS 450 4MATIC®® Sedan or the EQS 580 4MATIC®® Sedan, but the difference is more or less negligible in practical terms. At maximum, the EQS 450+ Sedan can go about ten more miles on a full charge.

There’s also a range-topping AMG® model with even more horsepower and torque, but we’ll explore that option at a different time.

Features: EQS 450+ or 580 4MATIC®?

Performance is an important consideration, but it’s not the only area where the EQS 450+ differs from the EQS 580 4MATIC®. We’ve already said that your choice of trim level will play a major role in determining what interior features are included inside your vehicle—but there’s one important area that separates every EQS 580 4MATIC® Sedan from every EQS 450+ Sedan.

If you want to access the available MBUX Hyperscreen interface, you’ll need to upgrade with the EQS 580 4MATIC®. Here’s where these models differ:

• The EQS 450+ Sedan features a vertical 12.8-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster.
• The EQS 580 4MATIC® Sedan features a 17.7-inch central touchscreen, a 12.3-inch passenger touchscreen, and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. All three of these screens are housed together beneath a single curved-glass display: the one-and-only 56-inch MBUX Hyperscreen.
